DiFonzo Family History

Panfilo/Paul (my grandfather) immigrated from Scerni, Italy in 1930 with his mother, brother Dan, and sister Sue (Asunte).  His father was already living in Downingtown and worked at Sunoco Paper Products.  His sister Angela remained in Scerni since she was married with a family.

Paul met his wife Mary Josephine D'Antonio at a dance in Strafford.  They dated for about a year and were married in September of 1943.  He went to World War II and traveled through France, Germany, and Switzerland.  He and Mary Jo had their first child in 1944 - Francis Paul.  He sent many of his pictures home from the war.  He was an avid photographer.  Even in High School he was the photographer for his Downingtown High School Yearbook.

They lived with Paul's parents on Jefferson Ave. in Downingtown until Paul finished their current home on Chestnut Street.  He and Jo worked so hard on this house.  She even helped him with the roof.
They had 4 other children - Judy, Anthony, then Paula and Nick.

Paul and Mary Jo have 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren!
